El Loco strikes again! Cristian Gonzales' spectacular goal; AFF Suzuki Cup Indonesia VS Philippines - world class goal from middle of the field.
Indonesia scored a goal against rival the Philippines in the first half of the Asian Football Federation (AFF) match Sunday. Striker Christian Gonzales delivered the kick at the 43rd minute after missing three previous chances. Gonzales, or “El Loco”, also scored the only goal in the previous RI-Philippines match last Thursday.
The match is the second leg of the AFF Cup held in the Bung Karno Stadium, Sunday. Indonesia triumphed over the Philippines with a score of 1-0 in the Asian Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup on Sunday in Jakarta.
The lone – and surprise – goal occurred in the first half of the match with striker Christian Gerard Alfaro Gonzales, also known as “El Loco”, delivering from outside the penalty box across the net.
The ball sailed in to the dismay of Philippines goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.
The cheers from the tens of thousands of spectators, including President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his wife, were deafening.
Gonzales, who also scored the only goal in the previous RI-Philippines match on Thursday, had previously missed on three chances to score.
The match was the second leg of the AFF Cup.
Indonesia’s victory ensured their place in the finals.
